Sometimes in life you don’t go looking for work or play, it finds you.
This is as much about me as it is about Lincoln and his family. When my daughters left for college within two years of each other, i sat on a Saturday night searching the web for my next project. I decided I wanted to dedicate my time to giving back in a different sort of way. I have volunteered for schools, sports, and just about every other organization there is over the past 20 years. I love volunteering and giving back to the community I live in. But, after a while it’s time for a change… even with the pressure of expenses, bills, deadlines, work, and the demands of life, it was time to volunteer for ME.
I found a few groups I was interested in helping. This was a passion for me, to give the gift of photography during the difficult times. My history is, I am a donor for my brother. 15 years ago he was dying and he needed a stem cell transplant. Now, he is a survivor, alive and thriving! So, I understand cancer and how difficult life becomes. Watching families in need, in pain is an overwhelming feeling. So, when opportunity came, a few organizations found me.
This bring me to is The Film Project. We photograph families dealing with Cancer, and often times, terminal cancer. Each of these kids I have had the opportunity to work with bring me so much joy in creating their story, I am the lucky and blessed one. Going on year two and I am so happy that these families get a bit of my time and talent to have cherished memories… forever and always in my heart <3
Now onto, Lincoln: wow, what a character. We had so much fun, his humor is captivating. Bright, silly, and fun, this kid can make you laugh. Sorry Jenny & Brian, but this just is too FUNNY not to post first of Lincoln! I am still laughing at his talent.
Now, did we talk about Super Hero’s yet? Well, my newest Super Hero’s..Lincoln & Emma, they are on the crusade to fight Cancer! Lincoln is obsessed with super hero’s… too many for me to list, but I just LOVE the way he and Emma played. They ran, and ran, and ran! I hope I tired them out a bit for mom and dad.
Time with sis Emma… they had some fun. Twirling, Running, Blowing weeds. Piggy Back Rides, so many cute images.
Emma is rocking the Cat Girl pose here… she has it down, great job girl! Sorry we didn’t have time for you to fish, maybe next time!
Now.. for some fun, and don’t get me wrong, they are a VERY photogenic family… but sometimes frowning is where it’s at!
Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your journey Lincoln, Emma, Jenny, & Brian!
