This woman, this mama, aka my personal this angel on earth. Her name is Cindy. She gave 28 years of care to my big brother Doug, as his chemo nurse at the Portland VA Hospital. Not only one round of cancer, but she was there for multiple rounds & types… she knew how to keep him smiling & laughing, was honest & helpful… she’s just amazing!
My brother passed away just a year ago. Pancreatic Cancer was his end game. He was what I call a true battle warrior. He went through non hodgkin’s lymphoma, (in the ’90’s), went through many rounds of chemo & radiation, had a stem cell transplant (we were a test case at Fred Hutch in Seattle-he got my stem cells 25 years ago on March 20 & 21st). As if that wasn’t enough cancer, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2018/19. He didn’t complain too much about the cancer as he loved & adored his nurses at the VA. I had the honor to create images for her family this past summer and it was just as special as it could be. She’s always got a sweet spot in my heart. Thank you Cindy!!!
